Project Story

The inspiration for this project came from a discovery while watching short videos. A teacher was live-streaming computer basics, and when discussing keyboard functions, the comment section was immediately flooded with questions: "Is Ctrl+Z for undo or redo?", "What exactly does F5 do?", "Why doesn't my Delete key work?"

Although the teacher patiently answered, they could only describe verbally or show static images, making it difficult for viewers to intuitively understand. I noticed many middle-aged and elderly people in the live stream looking confused at the dense array of keys on the keyboard, making the learning curve particularly steep.

Later, I discovered merchants on Amazon specifically selling "keyboard function learning charts," keyboard stickers, and films, and even specialized keyboard teaching posters. This indicated that many people indeed need such learning tools, but these static products always lack interactivity and detailed explanations.

I also followed some computer‑teaching YouTube channels, and found that whenever keyboard usage tips were published, the comments were always particularly active, with many viewers sharing their surprise at "I never knew this key could be used like that." This made me realize that even people who use computers daily often have only a surface‑level understanding of keyboards.

So I decided to create an interactive learning tool supporting a 108-key standard keyboard. No software installation required—just open the webpage and use it, click any key to immediately get detailed explanations and usage scenarios. More detailed than stickers, more interactive than videos, more intuitive than pictures.

This is the birth story of "KeyBegin" — a simple tool that hopes to help those new to computers avoid some detours and eliminate the unfamiliarity and fear of keyboards. After all, the keyboard is an important bridge for communicating with the digital world, and becoming familiar with it is equivalent to opening the door to the digital world.
